We are the male living descendants of those brave men who fought to preserve the Union in The American Civil War (1861-1865). The Department of the Chesapeake, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (S.U.V.C.W.) currently consists of eighteen chartered camps within the east coast states of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
It is our goal to preserve the memory of our ancestors who risked all to preserve the Union. While we are in the midst of the Sesquicentennial of that great conflict, we are presented with the unique opportunity to commemorate the Americans of that generation whose actions defined their legacy, healed a Nation torn in two, and set the course of how we live in the United States today.
